Walmart Headquarters in Bentonville, Ark. is bustling with fresh products and ideas during the retail giant's 2017 Open Call. This is the time of year that Walmart invites entrepreneurs to its headquarters to evaluate their products as potential for Walmart store shelves.
Rise-N-Shine is one of the companies in attendance at the 2017 event. In 2016, Rise-N-Shine attended and three Rise-N-Shine products are now in Walmart stores nationwide. All of Rise-N-Shine's products are featured on Walmart's website.
Walmart is committed to connecting with U.S. businesses like Rise-N-Shine with their initiative to invest $250 billion in American manufacturing through 2023. With the kickoff of this campaign having begun in 2013, Walmart estimates that the investment back into American businesses will create over one million jobs across the country.
Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson attended the event and congratulated the businesses in attendance for growing the economy in their individual states. He also said he was proud to see Walmart engaging on the global stage as a leader in redeveloping the U.S. economy.
One of the positive side effects of this movement, Hutchinson said, is that foreign companies are seeking to invest in U.S. Manufacturing, and have especially come to Arkansas, which is seen as a leader in this manufacturing resurgence. In turn, Hutchinson said that Arkansas' unemployment rate has seen a drop from 3.8 percent to 3.4 percent - an all-time low.
"Walmart's commitment to manufacturing has made a difference," said Hutchinson.
