WMBC-TV's Melissa Estock interviewed Rise-N-Shine President and Founder Cathy Beggan, for a segment that aired on Thursday, May 18.
The segment, which is in the clip below, aired on WMBC News on Channel 18 and Satellite Channel 63.
Entitled "Sparta Entrepreneur," Beggan speaks of how she started Rise-N-Shine as a busy and single mother of three, and how her flagship product, Wake Up On Time™ has now launched in Walmart locations nationwide.
As a mother going through a divorce and raising three young children, Beggan explained to Estock she sought ways to make her mornings easier. In the process, Beggan, a proponent for natural remedies, explored natural ingredients that she could put into her body before she woke up in morning, which could help to give her a natural jump start to her day.
"I came up with an idea to make a delayed-release energy pill that you could take before you go to bed, to help you to wake up in the morning," Beggan said.
Beggan told Estock that developing her business, including the close to 100 products Rise-N-Shine features, headquartered in New Jersey's Sussex County, has been a learning process.
Wake Up On Time™ has been recommended by safety experts, including Tracey "The Safety Lady" Hawkins on KCTV5 in Kansas City as a safe alternative to energy drinks, and is now in over 3,000 Walmart stores nationwide.
"How do you feel about that?" Estock asked.
"I feel very happy about what I'm doing," Beggan replied. "I'm happy to make products that can actually help people. And I've come a very long way so it's a great feeling."
